At In Depth Events, we’ve provided stage rental services for over 20 years. However, sometimes, our client base demands something other than a typical stage rental. Our services for custom stage design have increased over the past years to include various custom stage design services. Our clients are typically corporate events doing annual sales meetings, but we also handle custom stages for awards shows and bridal events.
A custom stage design can be almost anything you or your client can envision. At In Depth Events, we provide custom stage and fabrication services for indoor and outdoor events in various custom stage dimensions, backdrops, custom shapes, surface types, and pipe and drapes. We can provide step units and ADA ramps to match, as well as lighted stage panels and trim. We also offer colorful and custom marketing activations for our clients. If you are looking for elegant design, high-tech, or maybe just something splashy and fun, our designers, carpenters, technicians, and installers work with you and your team to create the perfect backdrop for your event.
At In Depth Events, we base most of our stage design on the Bil-Jax 4’x4’ ST8100 stage decking. These stages are engineered to hold the most weight of any commercial stage available today. They also allow custom pieces that make exciting designs with off-the-shelf ease. With the metal and wood fabrication shops that we have in-house, we can make almost any shape and design in nearly any size that you or your client can imagine.

Choosing the right stage surface is an essential part of planning your event. At In Depth Events, we provide a variety of stage materials designed to meet your specific needs.
Wood Surfaces
The most basic of our available stage surfaces is black-painted plywood. This surface is used worldwide for concerts and festivals. But that’s boring—let’s talk about jazzing your event up!
Stage Carpet
Using carpet as a stage surface is an easy way to customize your stage design. Carpet is available in an almost infinite number of colors and styles. Using carpet for stage surfaces reduces foot noise, making the stage look and feel more comforting for your talent, guests, and attendees.
Marley Flooring
Marley flooring is a durable, roll-out vinyl surface commonly used for dance and theater productions. It is typically double-sided, with one side in matte black and the other in neutral tones such as tan, gray, or white. This flooring is widely recognized for its performance and reliability. Using marley flooring as a stage surface creates a clean, theatrical look for your live event.
Marlite Surfaces
Marlite stages are known for their glossy finish, durability, and high-tech look and feel. They are designed to handle heavy foot traffic, making them suitable for award shows and corporate events. For bridal events, choose a white marlite surface to make your wedding stand out. Marlite is easy to work with and, like all our surfaces, can be cut into custom shapes for round stages, bullnose (or ellipse) designs, or multi-level stages.
Wood Grain Laminate Stages
Wood grain laminate surfaces combine the look of natural wood with the ability to easily provide a temporary stage surface. These surfaces are a good choice for events that require a mix of traditional and modern styles. They provide a warm aesthetic while maintaining the structural integrity needed for staging applications.
Acrylic Stage Surfaces
Acrylic surfaces are a popular option for modern event designs. At In Depth Events, we use acrylic surfaces for our swimming pool covers and LED Dance Floors, but we also use acrylic to provide captivating custom stage designs. By using clear or frosted acrylic, we can incorporate lighting design into the very floor of the stage, creating looks that can be custom for diamond thrust stages, multi-level stages, or even for lighted steps.
Custom Printed Vinyl or Laminate Surfaces
The newest trend in stage design is custom-printed stage surfaces. This can mean one of two design and fabrication choices – custom printing an adhesive vinyl application installed on the stage or large-format printing a custom design onto a laminate roll similar to a Marley surface. The adhesive vinyl works well for lower traffic stage design, and the large format laminate printing can be customized for any size or shape you can imagine. In either case, this type of custom printing allows for a unique design, with photorealistic logos or designs printed onto the surface of your stage.

At In Depth Events, we work closely with our clients to provide the right look and feel for their live events. Our stage designs are designed to work within the client theme and provide the right size and structure for the presentation needs. By utilizing custom staging, surface types, backdrops, and other production elements, we can fabricate a stage that will reel the audience and ensure the presentation is impactful and memorable.
Including backdrops, pipe and drape, audio, lighting, and video elements in the stage design is a big part of the atmosphere. Here at In Depth Events, we can provide those elements as well. However, we also work directly for industry giants like Clarity, Encore, and Freeman to provide staging that these companies may not have in-house. Often, the end client is unaware that a larger company has called us to offer the custom stage design needed for a show. No one in our industry can provide all the elements a large show needs in-house. It does take a village, and we are happy to work with our friends to offer the best event possible.

Lighted Stage Design and Fabrication
LED and lighted Stages
At our core, we understand the power of a meticulously crafted stage design to capture and amplify your corporate event’s essence. By integrating high-quality custom acrylic stage panels, we ensure your platform doesn’t just serve as a space for presentations but becomes a centerpiece that truly glows with potential. By placing DMX-controlled LED lighting fixtures underneath our acrylic stage panels, our production team creates a custom stage that glows for your corporate event, bridal event, or awards presentation. These panels can be clear acrylic to allow a beam of light to shoot up through the stage, or they can use frosted acrylic to allow glowing panels of light on the stage. We can also use an acrylic stage skirt to ensure the downstage edge is as dynamic as the rest of your event.
Many of our more innovative and larger clients are starting to use LED lighting to provide lighted edges to custom stages. For instance, a stage with gloss marlite, lit with a downstage ribbon of LED lighting, creates almost an infinity effect on the stage. We use our LED lighting to provide lit edges to step units and support stages for LED video walls, providing a beautiful look and enhancing the talent’s safety. Using this cutting-edge technology and applying it to stage design brings your attendees and your event into the next phase of event design, custom staging, and event fabrication.
